Fines in Poland You Didn’t Know About

Hello, friends! My name is Vitaliy, and welcome to the channel dedicated to business in Poland. I’ve been living in this beautiful country for 9 years, and every day I discover amazing stories about the laws being passed here and how often we don’t realize their significance.

In this video, I’ve prepared a list of fines that many of us are not even aware of. These are things I didn’t know, my acquaintances didn’t know, and sometimes these can really affect your life in Poland.

I invite you to share your knowledge in the comments, building our community. We have Telegram chats in major cities in Poland where we, as entrepreneurs, exchange experiences and useful contacts. Let’s create our community together!

Registration Obligation in Poland

The first fine I want to talk about is related to the registration obligation. If you live in Poland not in a hotel, but in an apartment, you have the obligation to register your place of residence. This is an important aspect of life in Poland, which many people are unaware of.

For example, the period within which you need to register can vary, and these details are very important. Fines for not being registered at your residence can range from 500 zlotys.

This is something I only found out when I went to the local administration to register, and they told me that without the necessary conditions specified in the lease agreement, they couldn’t register me. This raises many questions for people who have not lived in Poland for a long time.

Traffic Fines in Poland

Next, let’s talk about traffic fines. There are many fines in Poland that drivers often don’t realize they are committing.

For example, one of the biggest violations is related to mandatory car insurance. Even if your car is just sitting in a garage and not being used, it still has to be insured. The fine for not having insurance can be as high as 6,600 zlotys!

I’ve heard stories where acquaintances received fines for just a one-day delay, and it can be quite unexpected.

Other Traffic Fines to Be Aware Of

Other traffic fines in Poland include fines for tinted windows, a dirty car with mud falling from the body, and even fines for not having proper number plates on the vehicle.

Also, don’t forget that cars cannot be left running without a driver for more than a minute.

Employment Fines in Poland

Now, let’s talk about business and fines related to employment in Poland. One of the most popular topics among entrepreneurs is fines related to labor inspections.

If you fail to provide correct information about your employees or pay them “under the table,” it can lead to serious consequences. For example, a fine could be imposed, or even deportation.

Labor Inspection Rules and Personal Data Protection

It’s important to remember that you are required to pay your employees by the 10th of the following month, unless otherwise specified in the contract. Errors with their work permits can also cause problems.

If you’ve obtained a permit for a full-time position but the employee works part-time, that’s a violation. Also, personal data protection is very important. After cosmetic changes in European Union legislation, particularly regarding GDPR, requirements for processing personal data have become stricter.

Make sure you have a personal data processing policy in place and that all conditions are met; otherwise, fines could be substantial. Without proper documentation for personal data protection, companies could face fines exceeding 500,000 zlotys.

Summary

As we can see, life in Poland can be full of unexpected situations related to various fines. Be sure to take into account all the aspects of the laws and regulations in Poland to avoid trouble.

Registering a company is just the beginning, and it’s important not to neglect the subsequent steps, such as updating your company data. I hope this video has been useful to you.
